A Children’s book you will WANT to add to your collection: When Fur and Feather Get Together

I was gifted a copy in exchange for this review, however all opinions and thoughts are my own. 

Too many books! Not Enough Time! Or kids….

Children’s books are one of those things that are so personal, yet over saturated. There are SO many of them. To be honest, when I was contacted to review this book, I was skeptical because we had so many books, some that we honestly have never read or picked up once. We usually stick to a handful of favorites. Well…wasn’t I was pleasantly surprised!

Can Reading Help with Speech? Absolutely!

A little truth bomb that I haven’t shared o n social media but my eldest daughter has a speech delay/impediment (we’re not sure yet as they won’t say anything until she is 5 and her speech is more developed) but we are in speech therapy, we paid for private therapy and went on the list for public. We have seen tremendous growth and improvement but one thing that has developed is her love for books, along with her learning new words.

You guys!!! She LOVES this book. I mean…she seeks it out, calls it “Fur and Feather” and wants us to all sit to read it together. It’s over the top adorable. She can now recite almost each page. She has learned so much about animals, and what they are called when they are found in a group. As we read it the first night, with each page, I was so impressed and knew right away this would be a book we would be adding to our regular cycle. The style it is written has a fabulous flow with rhyming words and sing song like rhythm. The message in the book is heart warming and loving. David Margrave dedicates the book to his children and you can feel the love just emanating from it and it’s words.

The illustrations are vibrant and take up each page with the text over it. They are easy to make out and my girls can easily point and name each animal. At the same time they are detailed and expressive. Kim Wyly is the illustrator and she does a fantastic job keeping it geared towards kids yet detailed and expressive enough to not look too childish and realistic. She really did a fantastic job.

Even Dad Approved

So on to the next night, my husband was reading it with our daughter and he prides himself on knowing…well everything! Haha but he even learned something reading the book with our daughter. He actually had to Google it because he couldn’t believe it!

Since we have had the book, we have read it almost each night and my daughter can tell her friends at preschool what a group of Owls are called, or Rhinos! She is just a little sponge and absorbed everything from this book. We are actually so glad we had the opportunity to add this to our collection and review it.

You Won’t Regret Adding This To Your Kids Collection. I Promise.

If you are looking to add a book to your children’s collection that add value, sentiment, education while making it fun and easy to read, I cannot recommend this book enough. I promise you and your kids will enjoy every bit of it!
